Defense to Strong Namyats

4♣ or 4♦ shows a good hand of hearts or spades suit holding 8-8 ½ tricks plus quick trick.

There is and intervening suit between the transfer suit and indicated suit affect the usual

defense against transfer bid.

Defense to 4♣ opening

Overcall bids

• Pass then double on 4♥ in the next round shows same meaning of four major opening
• DBL = Immediate double shows diamonds and spades

• 4NT = clubs and diamonds

• 4♥ = cue bid shows clubs and spades
• 4♦ = diamonds suit, strong hand

• 4♠ = Immediate bid shows good hand with offensively and defensively

• 5♣ = Immediate bid shows good hand with offensively and defensively

• 5♦ = Extra strong one suit hand

Defense to 4♦ opening

Aggressor bids
• Pass then double on 4♠ of opener in the next round shows same meaning of 4M opening

• Immediate Double shows diamonds and hearts

• 4NT = clubs and diamonds
• 4♠ = cue bid shows clubs and hearts

• 4♥ = may be strength

• 5♣/♦ = immediate bid shows good hand with offensively and defensively
