Directing Double

Lead Directing Double

A double is played over artificial bid by opponent such as stayman, transfer and splinter bid.

The double bidder ask partner to lead the suit doubled. The double bidder should hold Ace or
king.

Lightner Slam Double

To make a directing double of slam contract

Double bidder has bid a suit

Do not lead a double bidder bid suit
Do not lead a trump

Assume that double bidder is based on a void or an unexpected AK or AQ in the suit bid
by opponents. Mostly will be the dummy’s first bid suit.

Double bidder has not bid a suit

Do not lead unbid suit

Do not lead a trump
Assume that double bidder is based on a void or an unexpected AK or AQ in the suit bid

by opponent or maybe declarer second suit.
Double bidder and partner have bid suit.

Do not lead double bidder suit
Do not lead own suit

Do not lead a trump
Lead unbid suit

Double on notrump slam contract

Usually ask partner to lead dummy’s first bid suit or an unusual lead
